CAAB - Competence assessment across borders

The project

Economic power and economic competitiveness of the EU relies on knowledge-based value creation. Hence skills, knowledge and competences of the EU-citizens are crucial prerequisites for productivity and competitiveness and the assessment of these factors is becoming more and more important. In order to tackle these developments an online tool for assessment of personal and professional competences was transferred and adapted in the framework of the CAAB-project.

Role model was an online tool named "FITS“, which was developed by the Danish partner in cooperation with the LEGO company in the year 2007. In the course of the CAAB-project the FITS-tool was further developed by the partner institutions in Denmark, France, Italy and Spain, adjusted to country specific needs and tested by different target groups.

The new online tool allows to identify and assess personal and professional competences and to compare the results with profiles of vocational trainings or professions. It is available in Danish, English, French, German, Italian and Spanish and could be used as a vocational orientation guide in schools, vocational colleges and training centres.

Since September 2009 the Kolping-Training Institution Wuerttemberg is using the online tool in the framework of vocational preparatory courses for youth.

The online tool is available here.
