CiLL - Creativity in language learning

The Project
Communication in a foreign language is a key competence which is necessary for employability in a knowledge-based society, personal development, active citizenship and social cohesion. It enables people to take advantage of the freedom to work or study in Europe. Lacking ability to communicate in another language than in the mother tongue affects the development of people’s professional and personal life and goes along with the threat of exclusion.

Therefore the partnership aims was to enhance the foreign language competences of different groups of learners and to improve the quality of foreign language teaching by testing, adapting and implementing creative methods based on active involvement of the target groups.

The partnership consisted of educational institutions from Germany, Finland, Italy, Lithuania and Poland. Some of them with extensive experience in using creative methods in foreign language teaching. These partners brought in and shared their special expertise for e.g. in the field of story telling, drama pedagogy or movie making with those partners who had less experiences. A series of workshops involving trainers and learners were held in order to present and teach the theoretical background and the technical skills which were needed to apply the creative methodologies successfully in the partner institutions and to exchange experiences. The workshops was followed by periods of testing and implementing the methodologies active involvement of trainers and learners of each partner organisation.

The result of our 2-year partnership is a handbook with all 3 fields incl. examples. You can request the handbook for a low fee.<//span>
