MEV - Employee in the area of reception and administration

The project

At the Kolping Training Centre in Ravensburg ESF-funded projects have been running for several years. These have been targeted at women exclusively and have been designed to meet their specific needs. ”Employee in the area of reception and administration” is such a women project.

The concept of MEV was developed on the basis of a market analysis of the Ravensburg region. The analysis showed a high demand for female employees in the areas of reception and administration. As a result of the findings, qualification of women who are unemployed despite the completion of a previous qualification in this area was the goal of the project. 18 women gained a foothold on the labour market through their participation in the qualification course. The course was comprised of 560 classroom hours and offered in part-time.

Contents of the course were office management, international communication and business English, marketing, computer applications, communication techniques and job application training. A further component was the support of social and intercultural competencies of the women. The future female employees in the areas of reception and administration learned of the particularities that they will be faced with when confronted with people of other cultures and were prepared to identify and deal with sources of conflict in cultural contexts.

Five women found a workplace after completing the qualification in December 2006. The process of job application of the other women was not finalized at that date.
