The project

Creative environmental education and the use and creation of digital video films in school were at the centre stage of this Comenius project.

"Show us your personal view on the subject of renewable energy and sustainable energy use in schools and in everyday life" - under this motto students (12-19 years) and teachers from Bulgaria, Germany, Greece, Italy, Lithuania and Spain have submitted short videos films for the Yourvid Save Energy video competition. All in all, more than 150 videos have been created.

Accompanying to the video competition, an innovative teaching and learning concept was developed, promoting the discussion of the topics "energy saving and renewable energy" in schools and in society. It is based on the methodology of problem-based learning and video production. Hence, more individual space is given to the students to motivate each other and to achieve together different learning objectives. Through the use of new didactical approach, based on social networks and digital video, an important communication channel of young people is used.

The e-learning course for teachers consists of 4 modules:

  • How to create and use the digital video in the classroom?
  • Sustainable energy: an alternative to traditional energies
  • Energy issues: increasing awareness in schools
  • Social networking and its use for awareness raising campaigns.

The E-learning course can be accessed via registration on Netkampus. The course ID is YSE-DE.

The award-winning videos of the competition and all other videos are available on the YouTube profile "YourvidSaveEnergy".
